Dubuque City Council Member Susan Farber will not seek reelection this fall, setting up a race for an open seat in Ward I, which covers the West End and part of southern Dubuque. Farber took office after winning a special election in March 2021 to fill the last nine months of the seat held by Brett Shaw, who resigned after his employer, John Deere Dubuque Works, transferred him to company headquarters in Moline, Ill. Farber defeated John Pregler by 38 votes in the special election and then ran unopposed for a full term in November 2021, which concludes at the end of this year.
