Former Dubuque County Corrections Officer arrested for charges related to child porn

A former corrections officer for the Dubuque County Sheriff’s Department was arrested for possessing multiple images of minor females engaged in sex acts on his cellphone. 29-year-old Benjamin C. Dalsing was arrested at 6:24 p.m. Tuesday at his residence in Dubuque on a warrant charging one count of sexual exploitation of a minor-promotion of material visually depicting a sex act and 11 counts of possession of a depiction of a minor engaged in a sex act. Court documents state that police began investigating Dalsing on March 11 after receiving a notification from the Internet Crimes Against Children Data System. A report indicated that files of child sex abuse material were uploaded on a social media application between Sept. 19-21. Investigators executed a search warrant at Dalsing’s residence March 21 and seized several electronic devices. Dalsing’s phone contained nude images of a female who was a minor at the time the images were taken and several messages were identified in which Dalsing admitted to having files of the female and would be willing to trade them with other individuals. Sheriff Joe Kennedy wrote in an email to the Telegraph Herald that Dalsing resigned in March.
