East Dubuque residents with the proper state licenses can now participate in archery hunting within certain segments of the city. Under an ordinance unanimously approved by the city council this week, hunters licensed pursuant to applicable state statutes can hunt using a bow and arrow or crossbow on parcels of land that are 20 acres or larger within the city limits. The ordinance allows for both target shooting and game hunting of animals such as deer or turkey. No archery hunting will be allowed within 100 yards of any building, whether or not it is occupied.
