A Dubuque woman has been sentenced to five years of probation after police said she used checks belonging to an account of a person with disabilities to purchase groceries for one of her relatives. 50-year-old Kelli M. McPoland recently received the sentence after pleading guilty to dependent adult abuse. The charge stems from incidents between Jan. 16, 2024, and April 19, 2024, when court documents state McPoland had given checks belonging to a person with disabilities to one of McPoland’s relatives to use to purchase groceries.
