The National Weather Service Forecast Office in La Crosse will be conducting a required, scheduled update to its Advanced Weather Interactive Processing System (AWIPS) from Monday, May 19 through Wednesday, May 21. During this update, forecast and warning operations will be conducted by their back-up NWS offices. No impacts to their core forecast products and weather watches, warnings, and advisories are expected during this period. The software update will impact NOAA Weather Radio broadcasts originating from NWS La Crosse. NOAA Weather Radio broadcasts will be off the air through the duration of the software update and are expected to resume sometime on Wednesday, May 21. The weekly NOAA Weather Radio test, normally conducted on Wednesdays, will be postponed to Thursday, May 22 between 11 AM and noon, pending no hazardous weather. During this planned NOAA Weather Radio outage, it is important to have multiple ways to receive warning information. Alternate sources may include: local TV/radio, weather apps on a mobile device, and NWS La Crosses website.
