On Tuesday at 6:22 am, the Grant County Sheriff’s office was notified of a two-vehicle crash on County H near Model Road, in Smelser. 24-year-old Nicholas F. Vosberg of Cuba City, was traveling west on County H and looked away from the road, when he looked back he was in the opposite lane of travel. At that time, 67-year-old Daniel J. Jeager of Cuba City, was traveling east. Both vehicles collided in the east bound lane with Vosberg’s vehicle coming to rest in the ditch and Jeager’s vehicle coming to a stop in the lane of travel. Vosberg was transported by Hazel Green EMS to Mercy Medical Center in Dubuque for treatment of injuries. Jeager was not injured. County H was closed in both directions for 3 hours for highway clean up. As a result of the crash, Vosberg was cited for operating left of center. Wisconsin State Patrol, Hazel Green EMS, and Hazel Green Fire assisted at the scene.
