The Black Hawk Bridge is closed in both directions for emergency repairs, according to an Iowa 511 alert sent out on Sunday morning. A Facebook post from the Township’s account says the monitoring system detected movement overnight, and an analysis is being conducted by engineers to determine if the bridge is safe to reopen. According to a Wisconsin DOT release, the Bridge has been closed since 12:08 a.m. on Sunday. Further updates are expected this week. The bridge, which connects Lansing, Iowa, to rural De Soto, Wisconsin, remains standing as construction continues on a new bridge nearby. The new bridge is expected to open sometime in 2026.
