Juvenile arrested for OWI following crash in Darlington

On Sunday at 7:50 PM Lafayette County Deputies responded to County E in Darlington for a one vehicle accident. The juvenile driver was travelling on County E when they lost control of the vehicle, crossed the centerline, entered the ditch, struck a fence and came to a stop in a nearby field. The juvenile driver and juvenile passenger reported no injuries. The vehicle received disabling damage and was owed from the scene. The juvenile driver was arrested for Operating While Intoxicated with a Passenger ≤ 16 Y/O (1st Offense). The juvenile driver was transported to Lafayette County Jail where they were booked on their charges and released to a responsible party. The driver was also cited for Operating Left of Center and Possession of Open Intoxicants. The juvenile passenger was cited for Underage Alcohol Consumption and released to a responsible party. Lafayette County EMS assisted.
