The University of Dubuque has selected the founding dean and chief academic officer for its proposed medical school, which is slated to open in 2028. Jeanne Rupert has been named to the role following a national search. Rupert most recently served as associate dean of clinical medicine and associate professor of family medicine at Arkansas College of Osteopathic Medicine in Fort Smith, Ark., where she also was involved with the Sebastian County Opioid Task Force. Rupert is originally from Erie, Pa., and completed her doctor of osteopathic medicine and family medicine residency at Ohio University Heritage College of Osteopathic Medicine. She holds a doctor of philosophy in history, a master of arts in economics and a bachelor of arts in Spanish. Pending accreditation from the Commission on Osteopathic College Accreditation, the school is on track to open its doors at 500 Main St. in Dubuque in the summer of 2028.
