Wisconsin Lt. Governor Sara Rodriguez toured the Driftless Region on Wednesday, discussing federal funding cuts to libraries and museums and their impact on local communities. Rodriguez’s visit included stops at Viroqua’s McIntosh Memorial Library, the Viroqua County Museum and History Center, and Norskedalen Nature and Heritage Center in Coon Valley. Her visit was part of a broader discussion about the 2025-27 Biennial Budget allocations toward Wisconsin museums and libraries. Rodriguez met with staff at each location to hear firsthand accounts of how the federal funding reductions might impact their work and the resources they provide to the community. There is no word yet on whether state budget money will be able to offset the federal cuts to these institutions.
