A Dyersville, Iowa, man was sentenced to 10 years of supervision by the Iowa Department of Corrections after authorities said he sexually abused a child younger than 12. 56-year-old Ramon A. Rojas-Gracia recently received the sentence in Iowa District Court of Dubuque County after pleading guilty to lascivious conduct with a minor. Rojas-Gracia was sentenced to 116 days in jail, with credit for time served. Rojas-Gracia also was given a special sentence of 10 years of corrections supervision and is required to register as a sex offender. According to court documents, the Dubuque County Sheriff’s Department started an investigation into ongoing sexual abuse by Rojas-Gracia in 2024 after the child reported the abuse to school officials. The child later recanted the statements made to school officials, but a forensic extraction of cellphones belonging to Rojas-Gracia and the child showed several messages corroborating the child’s initial report.
