Wisconsin lawmakers introduced a package of bills Thursday aimed at promoting and improving safety for LGBTQIA+ Wisconsinites. Members of the Wisconsin Legislative LGBTQ Caucus and Transgender Parent and Nonbinary Advocacy Caucus introduced the Equality Agenda at the Wisconsin State Capitol. Some of the bills that were introduced focused on changing language to be more inclusive of same sex couples, banning licensed mental health providers from engaging in conversion therapy efforts with minors, getting rid of the gay and trans panic criminal defense in courts, and including a grant to train school counselors and social works on providing care for LGBTQIA+ students. The package of bills are part of an effort to update state laws and ensure all families are protected equally under the law. The Caucus also released a 2025 resolution to formally recognize June as Pride Month.
