United Way of Dubuque Area Tri-States says it is about $70,000 short of its fundraising needs for the fiscal year that ends on Saturday. The agency says that’s mostly due to a decline in payroll deductions that let people donate directly from their paychecks. The United Way often serves as a facilitator, providing grants and funding to support community partners in various areas, including health, education, housing, childcare, and mental health support. If fundraising falls short, the United Way says it may have to scale back some of those efforts. Donations can be made online at dbqunitedway.org/donate.
