On Saturday at 11:19 a.m., a large group of motorcycles involved in a charity ride was traveling east on Highway 81 near Aupperle Rd in South Lancaster. Due to roadway conditions, the riders in the front of the group were required to quickly slow down, which caused a bottle neck effect on the rest of the group of riders. As a result, 48-year-old Juan Solis of Deforest, 42-year-old Jacob Kerns of Madison, and 64-year-old Wayne Bloedow of Viroqua all swerved to avoid crashing into other motorcycles. All three motorcycles left the roadway and ended up crashing in the ditch. All three riders were injured in the crash and were transported to area hospitals for non-life-threatening injuries. Both lanes of Highway 81 between the roundabout south of Lancaster, and Ellenboro were closed for approximately 20 minutes. The Grant County Sheriff’s Office was assisted on scene by the Lancaster Police Department, Lancaster EMS, Lancaster Fire Department, and Southwest Health EMS.
