The Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources (DNR) has recommended for Wisconsinites to remain inside or reduce time outdoors from Tuesday to Wednesday due to ongoing air quality advisories in response to wildfire smoke from Canada. According to a release, the smoke will be moving from the northwest to the southeast, moving across the state throughout Tuesday and into Wednesday. An air quality advisory is currently in effect for northwest Wisconsin until noon Tuesday, with health impacts expected to reach “unhealthy” levels and short-term spikes of “very unhealthy” levels possible. As the smoke moves across the state, the advisory will be extended to cover all of Wisconsin through noon Wednesday. This is the second instance in 2025 of an air quality advisory being issued in Wisconsin, with both being directly related to Canadian wildfire smoke. According to a release, the DNR expects more advisories to continue through the summer as wildfires continue.
