The Iowa County Sheriff’s Department is conducting overnight Speed Enforcement. At approximately 3:30 AM this morning, a deputy stopped a commercial truck on Highway 18/151 just west of County YZ for speeding. The vehicle was clocked at 90 mph in a posted 65 mph zone. This was just one of several significant speeding violations overnight. Other citations issued included 80 mph in a 55-mph zone, 86 mph in a 65-mph zone, and 73 mph in a 55-mph zone. In a Facebook post, the Iowa County Sheriff’s Department said these speeds are dangerously excessive and greatly increase the risk of serious crashes. Speed limits exist to protect everyone — drivers, passengers, and those who share the road.
