Woman Med-flighted following Sauk County UTV crash

A woman who was driving a Utility Task Vehicle was transported to a hospital in Madison via MedFlight Tuesday morning, the Sauk County Sheriff’s Office said Wednesday. The Sauk County Dispatch Center received a report of a UTV rollover crash that occurred roughly at 9:12 a.m. The woman was reported to be unconscious and suffered a serious head injury. Emergency personnel arrived to Coon Bluff Road just north of County Road P. They located the UTV with extreme damage, laying on the east side of the road. According to the sheriff’s office, the woman was ejected from the UTV approximately 30 yards away from it. She was then transported to a hospital, sustaining life-threatening injuries. Preliminary investigation indicated that the vehicle was traveling southbound on Coon Bluff Road when the driver attempted “a passing maneuver on another vehicle” but entered a ditch instead. This caused the UTV to roll over several times. She also was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash. Operator inexperience and speed are believed to be factors in this crash, according to the sheriff’s office.
