Sen. Tammy Baldwin and Rep. Mark Pocan were named on a list recovered from the vehicle of a man suspected of killing a Minnesota lawmaker and her husband and injuring another lawmaker and his wife. A spokesperson for the Democratic senator said that law enforcement informed Baldwin she was included on the shooter’s list of names. In an interview with Channel 3000 News Rep. Pocan said, “I will not back down in the face of terror, however, we as elected officials, must do better to lower the temperature. That said, my schedule remains unchanged.” On Saturday, a masked man shot Minnesota Rep. Melissa Hortman, her husband, Minnesota Sen. John Hoffman and his wife. The Hortmans died from their injuries, while the Hoffmans were taken to the hospital, where they are recovering. Both Rep. Hortman and Sen. Hoffman are Democrats. The suspect, Vance Boelter, is facing federal murder and stalking charges.
According to federal court documents, law enforcement found the list of names among several notebooks of hand-written notes. They said the list included the names of more than 45 Minnesota state and federal public officials, including the names of 11 Democratic Wisconsin lawmakers, and abortion rights advocates and health care officials.
