Forecasters have issued an extreme heat watch for a large swath of the tri-state area this weekend as temperatures are expected to soar. The extreme heat watch is effective from noon Saturday, June 21, through 9 p.m. Sunday, June 22, in Clayton, Delaware, Dubuque, Jackson and Jones counties in Iowa and Grant and Crawford counties in Wisconsin, according to the National Weather Service. Heat indices could top 105 degrees Fahrenheit for multiple days, potentially continuing into early next week. The weather service encourages residents to drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned room when possible and check on neighbors and relatives.
