A local credit union will close its branch inside a downtown Dubuque grocery store. Dupaco Community Credit Union will not renew its lease at the financial cooperatives branch inside Hy-Vee at 400 S. Locust St., closing the branch during the first quarter of 2026. According to a press release, all Dupaco Hy-Vee branch employees will continue their employment with the credit union and will transfer to other branches. The release cites a decreasing number of members visiting branches due to the “evolution of digital banking options like online and mobile banking.” Dupaco President and CEO Joe Hearn states that Dupaco members who frequent the Hy-Vee branch can access the same services at Dupaco’s nearby Key West and Sycamore Street full-service branches.
