On Saturday, at 8:28 A.M., the Grant County Sheriff’s Office was notified of a two-vehicle crash at the intersection of W. Front Street and S. Iowa Street in Muscoda. While emergency crews were responding, the Sheriff’s Office was notified that one of the driver’s involved fled the scene and was running on foot. When Deputies arrived and began investigating, it was determined that 38-year-old Desiree Bird of Milwaukee, was driving west on W. Front Street, when a vehicle driven by 29-year-old Mollie Lund of Muscoda, failed to stop at the posted stop sign on S. Iowa Street and W. Front Street. Lund’s vehicle collided with Bird’s vehicle on W. Front Street. Bird’s vehicle was disabled in the middle of the east bound lane on W. Front Street andLund’s came to rest in Walsh’s Ace Hardware’s parking lot. Lund had a brief conversation with Bird and Lund then ran from the scene. Muscoda Fire and EMS responded, along with deputies from the Richland and Grant County Sheriff’s Offices. Bird and her passenger, 62-year-old Rhoda Nance of Milwaukee, were both transported to Gunderson Boscobel Area Health Care by Muscoda EMS with minor injures. Bird’s vehicle was a total loss and Lund’s vehicle received moderate damage. Once the scene was clear, a search began for Lund. Lund was located and arrested for two counts of Hit and Run causing injury, and she was also cited for fail to stop at a stop sign. Bird was cited for not having vehicle insurance.
