Monroe police were able to resolve a domestic disturbance Tuesday morning after a 75-year-old woman said her husband threatened her with a shotgun. The incident occurred at a home on the 2200 block of 16th Street, according to a press release. The woman called police from a bedroom around 6:42 a.m. Officers were able to get her out of the house through a window. Neighbors were evacuated as well as a nearby City Park swimming pool. At 7:26 a.m., after phone calls went unanswered to the residence, officers approached a back door with a ballistic shield and got the man to come to the door unarmed. He was taken into custody without further incident. The 75-year-old man is being held and assessed further at this time. The neighborhood went back to normal activities within a few minutes of the situation being successfully resolved, according to police.
