Following the announcement of a delay in the premiere of South Park season 27, creators Trey Parker and Matt Stone released a profane statement criticizing the show’s parent company, Paramount. In response to a press release from Comedy Central about the changed release date, Parker and Stone stated, “This merger is a s—show and it’s f—ing up South Park.” While the creators did not provide specifics on how the Paramount-related issues are impacting the delay, they noted that they are “at the studio working on new episodes” and hope fans will be able to see them “somehow.” The last new season of South Park premiered over two years ago in February 2023, followed by three specials that streamed on Paramount+ between October 2023 and May 2024. South Park season 27 is currently scheduled to premiere on July 23rd on Comedy Central. (EW)
