A Dubuque County Sheriff’s Department deputy who was shot during a traffic stop Tuesday has been released from the hospital. Sheriff Joe Kennedy said the deputy, whose name has not been released was discharged from the hospital on Tuesday night. The deputy has been taken to MercyOne Dubuque Medical Center then to University of Iowa Health Care for treatment. The deputy remains on critical incident leave. The shooting occurred during a traffic stop at about 4:25 AM Tuesday on Highway 151 near Cascade related to a “multi-jurisdictional investigation.” During the stop, shots were fired and the driver of the vehicle was pronounced deceased.
