A 22-year-old Reedsburg man died after reportedly falling from a truck Friday in Cazenovia, according to the Richland County Sheriff’s Office. The initial investigation suggests 22-year-old Ethan Peper was sitting on the tailgate of a truck when he fell onto the roadway on Dix Lane around 11:25 p.m. Emergency crews from Cazenovia EMS and Fire Department responded to the scene. Reedsburg EMS and UW Medflight also arrived to help. Despite life-saving efforts, Peper was pronounced dead at the scene. The investigation has been difficult because several witnesses who saw what happened refused to give statements. Authorities are asking anyone with information about the incident to contact the Richland County Sheriff’s Office or Richland County Crime Stoppers. The Wisconsin State Patrol and Richland County District Attorney’s Office are also involved in the investigation. Charges are pending, per Richland County’s release, though it’s not clear yet who may face those charges. The investigation remains ongoing.
