A woman was found dead in a vehicle in Nebraska. The news comes amidst a search for a missing Dodgeville woman. The suspect, 23-year-old Gavin Thompson of Dodgeville, is currently in custody. The Dodgeville Police Department responded to a welfare check in the 300 block of East Division Street in Dodgeville at around 7:51 p.m. Tuesday. 67-year-old Dorinda Segebrecht was last seen at around 2 p.m. on Tuesday. At 1:50 a.m. Wednesday, a trooper from the Nebraska State Patrol spotted Segebrecht’s vehicle on I-80 in Lincoln. Officers reported that the driver was not Segebrecht, and when the trooper attempted to pull over the driver, they fled the wrong way on I-80 and the pursuit ended when they crashed the vehicle. Troopers located the body of a deceased female in the car. In a press conference they said she was dead prior to the crash. Thompson fled on foot and was apprehended about 4 hours later.

As of 4:30 PM on Wednesday, law enforcement officials believe this was a random act and there is no danger to the public. Iowa County Law Enforcement are in Nebraska assisting.
