The Iowa County Sheriff’s Department is reminding people to slow down following a weekend speeding incident. According to a Facebook post by th4 sheriff’s department, this week, a driver was stopped/cited for traveling at 118 mph in a 65 mph zone. The post reminds everyone that Incidents like this continue to highlight how speed remains one of the leading contributors to severe and fatal crashes on our roadways. At 118 mph, a vehicle covers over 170 feet per second, drastically reducing the driver’s ability to react to hazards. Excessive speeds mean longer stopping distances and increased severity of crashes.
