The fifth time asking, the city of Dyersville did not receive federal funding for the BUILD grant, formerly known as the RAISE grant. Funding was sought to support bridge and roadway projects connecting 12th Avenue Southwest to 13th Avenue Southeast over the North Fork Maquoketa River, Seventh Street Southwest to First Avenue West over Bear Creek and a railroad overpass on Beltline Road. The total construction costs for the bridge connection project are estimated to be around $29.9 million. The city will schedule a review with the U.S. Department of Transportation to debrief on the application, which would likely occur in August or September.
