A southwest Wisconsin archives has received a state award. The Mineral Point Library Archives has been named the recipient of the Wisconsin Historical Society Governor’s Award for Archival Achievement, according to a press release. The release states that the award will be presented to archivist Shan Thomas at a ceremony held at 1 p.m. Tuesday at the Mineral Point Library Park. The recognition celebrates the four-year effort led by Thomas to bring the archives to national archival standards, “ensuring the long-term preservation and accessibility of Mineral Point’s rich and diverse historical record.”
