The father of the Abundant Life Christian School shooter can attend her celebration of life without violating his bond, a Dane County judge ruled Thursday. Prosecutors allege that 43-year-old Jeffrey Rupnow gave his daughter access to firearms despite knowing about her mental health struggles. Rupnow’s 15-year-old daughter fatally shot a teacher and a student and wounded six others at Abundant Life Christian School before dying by suicide on Dec. 16, 2024. Rupnow is charged with two counts of intentionally giving a dangerous weapon to a person under 18 and one count of contributing to the delinquency of a child. During Thursday’s appearance, a judge determined that Rupnow could attend his daughter’s celebration of life without violating his bond, as his bond states he is to have no contact with the school. Rupnow is scheduled to appear in court for a pre-trial conference on Sept. 26 and for a motion hearing on Dec. 1.
