48-year-old Virgil Thew accused of killing his partner and two young girls, had an arraignment date set after he appeared in court Thursday at the Juneau County Justice Center. Prosecutors say Thew shot and killed 33-year-old Elizabeth Kolba, as well as a 12-year-old girl and a 13-year-old girl. Their bodies were found at a home in New Lisbon on Dec. 30, 2024. Thew is charged with three counts of first-degree intentional homicide, including one count with a domestic abuse modifier. He is also charged with three counts of hiding a corpse, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, taking and driving a vehicle without consent, and resisting or obstructing an officer. During a February court appearance, Thew’s cash bond was set at $5 million. A judge on Thursday scheduled Thew’s arraignment for Oct. 29 after the court accepted Thew’s preliminary hearing waiver. If convicted, he faces life in prison.
