On Friday (August 22), Old Dominion returned with their sixth studio album, Barbara, a 13-track collection that blends their signature contemporary country sound with fresh, deeply personal songs. The Nashville band said of their new project, “This is the most united we’ve been as a band, from the writing and recording to how we feel about the final product. We are so excited to finally share it with you!” In a new interview with Rob + Holly on the Friday Night Takeover, the band discussed the album’s creation, the meaning behind its title, and reflected on their creative journey, including the biggest hits and misses of their award-winning career. Lead singer Matthew Ramsey said that the songwriting process remains “an interesting challenge, and it’s mystifying to us still. We’re enamored by it.” Though Ramsey admits that some songs “come out of nowhere, and they just fall out, and you don’t really know how you did it. Those are typically the biggest songs.” (Audacy)
