Police said a Dubuque man exposed his children to THC while they were residing in an unkept and unsanitary home. 31-year-old Christopher M. Brenner of Dubuque was arrested early Wednesday at the Dubuque Law Enforcement Center on a warrant charging neglect or abandonment of a dependent person. Court documents state that Dubuque police began investigating Brenner on June 2, when they responded to a 911 hangup originating from Brenner’s residence. While the call was a prank by a juvenile, officers discovered the home was “covered with garbage, feces, and maggots.” Investigators learned that Brenner was the biological father of three children living in the home. Two other adults also resided in the home. The adults would frequently smoke marijuana in the home with the children present. Two of the children tested positive for exposure to THC. Dubuque Police Department Lt. Luke Bock said that charges against additional individuals are possible in this case.
