Emergency responders created a card shower following a near drowning in Iowa County. On Saturday morning Iowa County Sheriff’s 911 received a call for an unresponsive 5-year-old male, later identified as Callum, in a pool at Deer Valley Lodge. Iowa County Deputies, Barneveld EMS, and Barneveld Brigham Fire Department were dispatched. Life-saving measures were performed by bystanders and emergency personnel. Callum was flown to UW Children’s Hospital by UW MedFlight for further treatment. Because this occurred during Callum’s birthday celebration, emergency responders have requested a community card shower. Community members who wish to participate may mail or drop off birthday cards for Callum at the Barneveld Village Hall or the Iowa County Sheriff’s Office.
