Four organizations that serve southwest Wisconsin cancer patients will receive $25,000 each. Garding against cancer was held on the UW–Platteville Williams fieldhouse Bo Ryan court Wednesday night. The event raised money for Southwest Health, the Grant and Iowa County Cancer Coalitions, and the southwest Wisconsin community action program. UW Men’s Basketball Coach Gregg Gard started Garding against cancer nine years ago.
Garding against cancer was started in memory of Greg and Jeff Gard’s father, glen, who died of brain cancer in 2015. UW–Platteville Men’s Basketball Coach Jeff Gard says his dad’s philosophy was to think globally and work locally.
