A developer is adding 17 new condo units to a well-known building in Dubuque’s Historic Millwork District. GT Novelty Condos LLC is constructing the units, which will cost $275,000 to $350,000 depending on size, on the third floor of the Novelty Iron Works building. The development will include a common area managed by a homeowners association. Each unit will range from 1,200 to 2,200 square feet with two or three bedrooms and at least two bathrooms. The building has 76 developed residential apartments as well as space for its commercial tenants, which include Backpocket Dubuque, Driftless Pizza Co., 7 Hills Ballroom and Gary Dolphin’s Iron Bar. Once the first 17 condos are complete, the developer will reassess the project and if sales are good, they plan to develop an additional 17 condos on the second floor. The developer hopes to start closing on some of the condos in six to eight months.
