On Saturday at 10:58am, the Lafayette County Sheriff’s Office Dispatch Center received a 911 call reporting a single motor vehicle crash with injuries in the 10,000 block of County N in Wiota. Lafayette County Sheriff’s Deputies, Woodford Fire and First Response, along with Argyle Fire and Argyle EMS were dispatched. Lafayette County EMS was also requested for assistance.65-year-old Danny G. Burkhalter of South Wayne was traveling southbound on County N on his motorcycle, when he struck a deer. Burkhalter was ejected from the motorcycle. Both Burkhalter and the motorcycle came to rest on the roadway. Burkhalter suffered life threatening injuries and was airlifted from the scene to UW Hospital by UW Medflight. Burkhalter was not wearing a helmet at the time of the crash. The crash remains under investigation.
