The person found with critical injuries following a “violent, unprovoked attack” near Camp Randall has died, UW-Madison police said Monday. UWPD searched for a man on Sept. 20 following reports of an attack at 15 Breese Terrace, in a parking lot across the street from the stadium. Police believed the attack was targeted. Keith Jones, the suspect, was co-workers with the victim, according to police. Jones was off the clock but still in uniform when the attack occurred. Jones was taken into custody the afternoon of Sept. 20 without incident. He is in custody at the Dane County Jail on charges of aggravated battery with intent to cause great bodily harm, robbery and violating probation. He has a hold from the Wisconsin Department of Corrections. Police said they were notified of the victim’s death last Thursday. The victim’s name has not been released. UWPD says charges of first-degree intentional homicide will be referred to the Dane County District’s Attorney’s Office.
