Shovels are finally in the ground for a long-planned southwest Wisconsin project. Southwest Health administrators, board members, donors and community leaders gathered Wednesday afternoon for a groundbreaking for a new child care center on Performance Drive in Platteville, just north of the hospital and the EMS building. Construction should start in less than two weeks. The project has been planned for nearly six years, but it was not until this summer when a $2 million contribution in Wisconsin’s biennial budget made construction financially feasible. Construction on the facility is expected to be completed in the summer, with the center opening in the fall of 2026.
