Iowa motorcyclist injured in Grant County crash

Friday morning the Grant County Sheriff’s Office received a 911 call of a motorcycle accident on Highway 151, in Paris Township. Grant County Deputies, along with emergency crews from Dickeyville Fire, Dickeyville EMS, and Southwest Health EMS responded to the scene. 27-year-old Austin Litka of Bellevue IA, was driving a motorcycle north on Highway 151. A witness to the crash informed the Sheriff’s Office they estimated the motorcycle was driving over 100mph as it passed them just before the crash. Litka lost control of the motorcycle shortly after passing a vehicle and slid into the median, before coming to rest on the shoulder of the northbound lanes. Litka informed the Sheriff’s Deputy that he was driving 85mph at the time he crashed. Litka was not wearing protective equipment and suffered serious injuries as a result of the crash. He was transported to Mercy One Medical Center in Dubuque, and was reported to be in stable condition. Litka was cited for Speeding and Operating a Motorcycle without a License.
