Blue Mounds woman pleads insanity in death of mother

A 31-year-old woman accused of killing her mother in Blue Mounds on April 14 entered a not guilty by reason of insanity plea/guilty insanity plea on Tuesday. Online court records show the prosecution did not object to the plea.  Sierra Schoonover was charged with first-degree intentional homicide by use of a dangerous weapon. Previously, the charge had a domestic abuse enhancer but that was dropped Thursday. The court accepted Schoonover’s plea and adjudged her to be guilty. Sierra’s mother was found dead in April at a home on Smokey Mountain Trail in Blue Mounds.
