The Wisconsin Department of Transportation has issued a warning to drivers about the increase of deer activity on Wisconsin roads. According to WisDOT, there were more than 17,000 deer-related crashes in 2024. Those crashes resulted in nine deaths and over 700 injuries. More than one-third of those crashes happened in October and November. WisDOT is warning motorists to be on alert, drive at a safe speed, eliminate distractions, and make sure everyone in your vehicle is wearing a seatbelt. Officials also emphasized that most deer-related crashes happen in the early morning and evening hours, so it is important to use your headlights during times when deer can become more difficult to see.
