Wednesday evening the Iowa county Communications Center received a 911 call from a 22-year-old hunter in the woods near Mill Rd, in Ridgeway Township that had a significant injury with uncontrolled bleeding. Responding units included Ridgeway Fire, Ridgeway First Response, Barneveld EMS, Barneveld Fire and Iowa County Sheriff’s Deputies. MedFlight was requested however due to weather was unable to respond. Fitch-Rona EMS was requested for a paramedic intercept. The hunter was successfully removed from the woods and transported to the hospital for evaluation and treatment of the injuries sustained. In a social media post, Sheriff Michael Peterson credits their dispatch center and technology used such as what3words for their ability to quickly pinpoint and assist the hunter.
