Police said a group of four people attempted an ATM ‘jackpotting’ in Dubuque. 34-year-old Anneiro J. Alana Rendiles, 32-year-old Winder M. Cardenas Sayabedra, 23-year-old Wilson E. Colmenarez Herrera, and 30-year-old Cesar A. Idrogo Rengel were all arrested early Wednesday morning, each on a charge of conspiracy to commit a non forcible felony. Tuesday morning, dispatch received an ATM hood door alarm from DuTrac Community Credit Union on Holliday Drive. Traffic cameras which showed a subject exiting a vehicle at DuTrac, opening the ATM hood, then getting back into the vehicle and driving to a nearby hotel. A short time later, two other vehicles pull into the same hotel parking lot. Officers arrived shortly afterwards and made contact with the occupants of each vehicle, identified as the suspects. An ATM ‘jackpotting’ is an operation in which suspects “install malware to force the ATM to dispense cash.”
