Dubuque police have issued a warning about a scam reported in the area. According to an online announcement, the scam involves letters or phone calls indicating that the “Housing Services Department” is offering a home warranty and asking for payment to enroll. Police remind residents that Dubuque’s Housing & Community Development Department does not offer these warranties. Residents are reminded to never provide personal information over the phone, such as date of birth, Social Security number, passwords and account numbers. People with information about local scams may contact Dubuque Police Department Public Information Officer Lt. Luke Bock or report scams online by visiting the Internet Crime Complaint Center at ic3.gov.
