The Green County Humane Society on Tuesday reported that two puppies died following an animal neglect case in Lafayette County, where over a dozen dogs were seized. The Lafayette County Sheriff’s Office responded to a property on Wardsville Road in Seymour for a welfare check on the evening of Oct. 16. Sheriff’s deputies returned to the property with staff from the humane society the morning of Oct. 17. The dogs were seized that same day, and one dog was found dead. A Facebook post from the Green County Humane Society said the puppies were “scared, sick and fighting for a chance.” A fundraiser has been established to donate to their emergency medical fund. 37-year-old Jeslias Murillo-Lopez was arrested and is facing numerous charges, including one count of mistreatment of animals causing death, 18 counts of intentionally mistreating animals, and two counts of felony bail jumping. Online court records show Murillo-Lopez was given a $25,000 bond and is scheduled to appear in court on Nov. 21.
