The White House is denying more disaster aid for six Wisconsin counties impacted by the historic flooding back in August. The state’s request for hazard mitigation funding for Milwaukee, Waukesha, Ozaukee, Washington, Grant and Door counties has been denied, according to Governor Tony Evers. This comes after the state’s request for $26.5 million in public assistance to fix public infrastructure was also denied last week. The governor is appealing both decisions. The hazard mitigation grant program provides funds to state and local governments for projects aimed at reducing the risks and impacts of future disasters.
