University extension services in Illinois, Iowa and Wisconsin will hold the 14th annual Driftless Region Beef Conference in January in Dubuque. The event will be held Jan. 22 and 23 at Grand River Center, according to a press release. Topics include the role and value of basic biosecurity, the movement of ticks into the upper Midwest and their impact on cattle herds, the role genetic selection plays in cow longevity and adding value to feeder calves. The early registration fee of $120 per person must be received prior to midnight Jan. 7. After that date, individuals can still register, but the cost increases to $145.
