Brendan Fraser and Rachel Weisz will reunite for a fourth Mummy movie directed by Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett, who previously helmed 2019’s Ready Or Not and revived the Scream franchise in 2022. Fraser starred in the 1999 Mummy reboot alongside Weisz, which became a major box office success and established Fraser as an action star. He returned for 2001’s The Mummy Returns and 2008’s The Mummy: Tomb Of The Dragon Emperor, though Weisz only appeared in the first sequel. Universal’s 2017 attempt to restart the franchise with Tom Cruise failed commercially and ended plans for their “Dark Universe” series. Fraser, who won an Oscar for 2022’s The Whale, previously told Variety he’d consider reprising adventurer Rick O’Connell, saying “I’d be open to it, if someone came up with the right conceit.” (Story URL)
