Officials said an early morning fire destroyed a garage in Dubuque. Firefighters responded at approximately 1:33 a.m. Monday morning to the rear of 1218 Lincoln Ave., for a report of a garage fire, according to Dubuque Fire Department. A press release states that fire was coming from the garage of the residence. Firefighters extinguished the blaze within 16 minutes. A total of 17 firefighters responded to the scene. There were no injuries reported. The garage was determined to be a total loss, with the damage estimated at $40,200. An investigation determined that the cause of the fire was an unattended and recently stoked woodburning stove.
